My Man Greene

Loved, loved, loved the episode of E.R. tonight. I have not been watching faithfully since Dr.Greene's character died of a brain tumor, but since this is the show's last year I have tuned in every Thursday and tonight was one of E.R's best moments.
As I was watching the show I began to wonder When is Dr. Greene going to show up. The minute the ambulance door opened and I saw him I just gasped. I love this character. I started crying like a baby seeing him running around the E.R. just like old times. Remember I have watched this show for many years so I feel very connected to this show. Just like real life it is interesting how many Characters have come and gone. Then who shows up in the episode but Jerry,Weaver And Romano. No way! I could not believe it. The writers did a wonderful job creating tonight's episode. Too bad Elizabeth was not in the episode too. Honestly, I have been crying just about every Thursday and I don't know if I can take much more. I have heard rumors of a George Clooney return, along with the Character Carol. But I was never a big fan of Dr. Ross. Anyway the show was great tonight. Let's hope my eyes are not still puffy tomorrow.

Neil Diamond

I took my mom to see Neil Diamond last night at the Amway Arena. The place was packed! He performed for two hours straight. Many of his old hits and several new ones. He certainly put a lot of heart and soul into his concert. I never knew he was a man of strong faith or such a humanitarian.

During the concert he announced that sales from all his merchandise would go to a Hurricane Relief fund in Texas. He also sang several inspirational type songs and refered to the man upstairs frequently during the last few songs of the concert. I don't know a lot about Neil Diamond as the concert was mainly for my mom, but he was a great performer.

Barack Obama in Orlando

It was exciting to be a part of history today. To see the man who may be the next President of the United States and possibly the first Woman president in 2012 :) Thier speeches were awesome and the energy of the crowd was unbelievable.
Secret Service Agents were everywhere on top of all the buildings

Below is the crowd behind us, we later found out it was over 3 miles long and one of many lines.

Obama was in Orlando a few days ago. It is estimated that 60,000 people showed up at the arena. I was home that day because Dixon was sick and I took him to the vet that morning. Dixon is to be confined to his crate for the next 4weeks due to a back injury. I was sitting around moping and my friend Joanne suggested we go down and check out Mr. Obama. Alex ( a Republican, but good husband) said I should go instead of moping around the house all afternoon thinking about Dixon, so I did. When we arrived there must have been 1,000 people there. We figured there was no way we would get close. Well as I say.... desperate times call for desperate measures. My poor back can't take standing for 4 hours straight so I went to the front of the line and offered a teenage girl $10.00 to let me and Joanne get in front of her. She said yes, but that the money was not necessary. I insisted she take it since since I felt guilty about jumping ahead in the line. Later two girls mysteriously showed up in front of us, but we did not say anything. Well, we stood there for 90 minutes and the gates opened and we ended up long story short about 50 feet from the stage. What an experience! We are both registered Republican ( yes I voted for him) anyway the crowd was energized and excited. We were both very excited to see Hilary Clinton . She walked out with Mr. Obama and what a amazing speaker she is. Then Barack Obama started his speech. People went crazy. What a mixture of Diversity! French, Haitian, Jamaican, Spanish and Caucasian folks.

Prayer for Dixon

IF you are reading this blog, please pray for my little Dixon. He has had some vomiting and diarrhea the last few days, but was doing better. Tonight he began to walk in a hunched position and show signs of pain and discomfort. We took him to the emergency vet. He has a diagnosis of Gastroenteritis ( with unknown cause). He will see our vet tomorrow. He is a sweetie and I CANNOT EVEN THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES. I believe in prayer, so please say one for him.

Warning to all Dog Lovers

I saw this site linked from a blog that I enjoy reading. It is a story of a man whose Labrador Retriever Chai was seriously injured while chewing a dog toy made by Four Paws. Apparently the hole on the toy created a vacum sunction on the dogs tongue. Resulting in it being lodged into the toy and seriously injuring his dog. So if you are like me and love to buy toys for your little ones, please make yourselves aware and spread the word.

Habitat For Humanity at Biloxi Mississipi

My friend Cindy wrote a essay on the importance of Volunteering in a local contest. In return she won a opportunity to work with Habitat for Humanity in the Mississippi Gulf coast. She won free airfare to Biloxi, Miss, one night stay at Imperial Palace casino and a stay at the Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Village. I was pleased and thrilled that she invited me to go with her. We stayed a few days at the Volunteer Village, which is located in a converted high school stadium. They have portable buildings with bunk style bedding and the Salvation Army provides 3 daily meals. Habitat is a great organization and we met some wonderful caring people. I was impressed with the organization, staff and the great group of volunteers we met. We met some

wonderful folks in Biloxi that are still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. We spoke to people whose homes were destroyed and family members who perished. Everyone had story. Now a few days after we have returned home it is horrible to see that Hurricane Gustav is following the same path as Katrina. Many of us that were not affected by Katrina, have forgotten how many of these folks are still struggling 3 years later to rebuild their lives and now they have Hurricane Gustav headed their way. Please pray for these people as they prepare for the storm and if you can financially, please consider making a donation to the American Red Cross or Salvation Army.

New Flooring

Hubby installed our new laminate flooring for the family room. And I love it, he did an awesome job, I am so lucky to be married to such a handy man. We had carpet in the room before and I hated it. It changes things a little bit. Our cherry fireplace and a few other things don't quiet suite the room. So I will be craigslisting the fireplace and couch for some new things. I am so very happy about the floor

Want a work out!

If you haven't been to the Orlando Ikea..................put on your walking shoes. We made a stop there a few days ago and the story is like 50,000 sq feet. We wanted to check out their kitchen cabinets, but they are a bit pricey. I am a little too traditional for Ikea, but it was fun and I would like to spend more time in the kitchen/household supplies area. It also gave me a chance to be on the part of town where my fave pizza restaurant is located. CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN!!! Love this place, but hubby is not all that crazy about it. My favorite is the Tostada Pizza.............check it out the next time you see a CPK.

My Newest Craigs List Purchase!

I have been wanting a Sleigh bed for quiet some time. I like the rest of the furniture in my bedroom set,but I wanted a new bed. So I have been looking on CL for a while and found one that I like. It is a leather headboard and footboard. I am quiet happy with it. I sold my kitchen table a few weeks ago and I am getting rid of a couch in the family room and would like to replace it with a chaise. I haven't found a dining room table and chairs yet, but I saw a really nice one at Pier one Import, but I don't want to pay the price. They say patience is rewarded :)
I made the decision to participate in Compasssion International . My Husband and I both chose a child to sponser and it has been great. I love getting the letters every 2-3 months and the photos. I encourage everyone to do this and highly recommmend this company.

Maria Chapman, daughter of Steven Curtis Chapman remembered In New Children's Home

Shaohannah's Hope, the adoption and orphan care ministry founded by Steven Curtis Chapman and his wife, has named their new special needs children's home in China after their five-year old daughter, Maria Sue Chapman, who died in an accident earlier this year.Located in Luoyang city, eastern China, Maria's Big House of Hope will care for orphans with medical impairments such as cleft palate, clubbed feet, blindness, and urological and neurological disorders.Maria's Big House of Hope is currently in the building stages ahead of its October opening. Funded by Shaohannah's Hope and managed by New Hope Foundation, the six-floor, 60,000 sq ft facility will be equipped with everything required to care for orphans with special needs. This will be the biggest of its kind in China, able to provide for over 100 children at a time.Luoyang, which has a population of around six million people, is located within the Henan province of China and is one of the poorest provinces in the country. The state-run Luoyang orphanage currently takes care of nearly 700 children and tends to most of the special needs orphans from all around Henan."To care for the specific medical needs of these orphans, Maria's Big House of Hope will provide the much-needed surgeries and medical attention, as well as be a bridge to give them hope and the love they deserve. In turn, there is hope these children will then be adopted into forever families," said Shaohannah's Hope. The Chapman family chose to build the healing home in Luoyang, because of the area's desperate need for special needs orphan care as well as wanting to give back to the country that has given so much to them - the Chapman's adopted three girls from China, Shaohannah Hope, Stevey Joy and Maria Sue."We are not in the business of building orphanages, but rather building hope in the lives of orphans and vulnerable children in a way that honours God," states Scott Hasebalg, Executive Director, Shaohannah's Hope.

By Steven Curtis ChapmanSpecial to CNNFRANKLIN, Tennessee (CNN) -- According to UNICEF, there are 143 million children in the world who have lost one or both parents. In America alone, there are half a million children in foster care, and approximately 120,000 of these children are waiting to be adopted. In many countries, children are too often orphaned or abandoned because of poverty, disabilities and disease; every 15 seconds, a child loses a parent because of AIDS. These are staggering facts that can seem overwhelming and discouraging, but I believe that God has a loving plan for each child, and that plan is you and me.Caring for these children is not the job of governments or institutions; instead, it is the job of families, people and communities. As Christians, our compassion is simply a response to the love that God has already shown us. Mother Teresa would constantly remind those who worked with her that the Bible clearly teaches that whatever we do for the least of these, we do for Jesus. So in a very real sense, caring for orphans is a chance to meet the person of Jesus in "the guise of human suffering." This is an invitation from the heart of God to know him and to experience his love.Nine years ago, my wife and my eldest daughter, Emily, traveled to Haiti on a mission trip. Having been exposed to extreme poverty for the first time, Emily returned home with a determined passion to make a difference in the lives of at-risk children.Only 12 years old, Emily went on an all-out campaign to persuade us to adopt. She bought a book on international adoption with her Christmas money and would read it to us regularly. She began fervently praying and writing letters to Mary Beth and me, encouraging us to consider giving a waiting child a home. Emily knew God was leading us in the direction of adoption; however, Mary Beth and I were not yet convinced. My wife and I had always supported the idea of adoption, and as Christians, we understood the importance of loving and caring for others. But what I had not yet grasped was that adoption is a physical picture of what Jesus has done for me. I did nothing to deserve God's love; in fact, I was living as an orphan, without hope. Yet God chose to pursue a relationship with me, and through the death of his son Jesus, I was adopted into God's family. My wife and I began moving toward adoption with fear and trembling and asking all the questions people ask. I remember Mary Beth crying herself to sleep at night saying, "What are we doing? I can't do this." However, God kept reassuring us that this was the direction he was leading us. It was a huge journey of faith for us.In May of 2000, we found ourselves in a hotel room in China's Hunan province, welcoming the newest member of our family, Shaohannah Hope. From that moment, we began our journey into the world of adoption, orphan care and Shaohannah's Hope.We went on to adopt Stevey Joy and Maria. Recently, our youngest daughter, Maria, passed from life on this earth and is now safely in the arms of Jesus. We have been completely overwhelmed by the love and support of so many during this time of deep, deep sadness. Through all that we've experienced, one thing we still know is true: God's heart is for the orphan.Don't MissIn our travels to Latin America, Africa and Asia, we have visited many different orphanages. If you look past the surroundings and into the eyes of the children, they all have the same look. They seem to convey, "I don't think this is what I was made for. Where do I belong?"These children are crying out for the hope of a family, for the hope of community, for the hope of a permanent love. Our mission, and the mission of our adoption charity, Shaohannah's Hope, is to show hope to these children and to mobilize people, families and communities to be living examples of God's love for them.We started Shaohannah's Hope in order to connect willing families with waiting children, but the reality is that there are many orphans who cannot be adopted. Even though we may not be able to bring them into our homes, we still have the opportunity to show them the hope we have.If only 7 percent of the 2 billion Christians in the world would care for a single orphan in distress, there would effectively be no more orphans. If everybody would be willing to simply do something to care for one of these precious treasures, I think we would be amazed by just how much we could change the world. We can each do something, whether it is donating, adopting, fostering, mentoring, visiting orphans or supporting families that have taken in orphans. You can change the world for an orphan

Reycle Bin Carrier

Best $3.00 investment! Top is for plastic and bottom is for paper.

My first trip to the Grocery Store using my own bags!

We have been recycling for a few years now. Our area even gives us our own recycling bins and for $3.00 ( garage sale not craigs list) I bought a recycling bin holder, which has been wonderful. Now we can roll the bins to the curb instead of carrying them. Today I went to the local grocery store and brought my own bags and honestly I did not think everything would fit. Surprise! All my items fit into two carry bags. I have at least 6 of these type bags in the closet so I did not need to buy any from the store. I know it is a small act, but it makes me feel like I am doing something for our environment, Lord knows we have neglected it for the last several years.

If you are not recycling I encourage you to do so.

Oh no! The woman is on to me!

CAT DIARY
Day 983 of my captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.
Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.
The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards! There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dogs receives special privileges. They are regularly released – and seem to be more than willing to return. They are obviously retarded.

If you know me then.........

Alabama Bound

Wow! I don't think I have ever had so many visits from folks from the Great State of Alabama and now Mom and I are headed there ourselves. Actually every year ( for the last 3) Mom and I have gone to visit her two sisters and any other relative that we can during what has become our annual June "girls" vacation. This year we headed to Alabama to see all our kin. We had a great time. Here are just a few pictures. We missed Aunt Nell last year because she ended up in the hospital the 2nd day we were there and came home the day before we left. Hmmm...... the things some folks will do to get out of seeing their kinfolk. :0 This time she had just gotten back from China and need some R&R from her trip so we did not get to see her quiet as much and like the turkey I am, I did not get a lot of pictures of her with us.

Elishaba Visits Again!

Got a call from my cousin Elishaba. Celebrating her 5 years of being hitched so she is coming to Florida. Her and her husband Carl decided to go on a Caribbean cruise and spent the night with us before heading over to their ship at Port Canaveral. We really enjoyed the visit. It was great to see Elishaba again and this time we got to spend some time with her husband Carl. He is a great guy! Certainly deserves an award for putting up with Mason, who insisted that Carl needed to have his ears cleaned and face kissed every time he could jump into Carl's lap. Carl and Elishaba have a Jack Russell named BAMA.

So I am including a picture of him since he is such a cutie and very well behaved. Unlike two dogs that I know....................................well they aren't that bad..................I don't think. :)

New Updated Pictures of the boys

Okay, they have been home for a little while and never a dull moment with these two. We have had some adjustments. Mason ( white dog) took to training right away and is very well behaved. He is the follower of the two and lets Dixon ( yorkie-mix) be the Alpha Dog. I figured it would be this way, as Dixon was at Animal Control for 3 weeks. He was found with a identification tag so they had to call the owner and then send a certified letter before they could release him for Adoption. So he was there for three weeks and many dogs came and went from Dixon's cage. He had 6 when I first met him and Mason showed up a week later. It was during one of my visits I saw Mason and thought how sweet he looked AND NO ONE HAD PUT AN APPLICATION ON HIM. Other words his days were numbered. He had one day left, all the others in the cage had papers, but him. So that is how we ended up with sweet Mason and "2" dogs instead of 1.

Pix of my Boys and the Stars of my Blog!!

I thought I would include pix of Mason and Dixon from the day we adopted them from Orange County Animal Control. They were a mess..........boy did they stink and thier hair was sooooo long. It's Animal Control so they do not bathe any of the animals, since they are strays and lets face it the majority of the will be Euthanized.....................This is why Spay and Neuter is so important. The state of Florida Euthanizes 800,000 cats and dogs every year. So please adopt a shelter animal and make sure you have yours pets spayed or neutered. Okay enough lecture! Lets bring on the boys!

Visit from my Homies from Alabama!

Many of you know that I from the great state of Alabama. So at Christmas I was pleased to have some Southern hospitality from my Aunt Karen, Uncle Rick, my cousin Alex and his girlfriend Amy. Dad and Uncle Ricky................fished.........of course. :) The Peake girls shopped and Alex and Amy hit all the theme parks. We joined them for the trip to Animal Kingdom ( my fave park) no surprise there.! So below are some pix from the day. Also word of caution to visitors........................yes it is VERY CROWDED DURING THE HOLIDAYS!!!!!!
Earl bought everyone lottery tickets
so as you can tell. Guess who won.

In December we had a visit from Alex's sister Kim, her husband Curt and their son Eric. We enjoyed having them here and I think they loved having Christmas Lunch out on our patio lanai. It is the favorite part of our house. We eat all our meals there.
